History of the Faculty of Medicine, Siam University

The Faculty of Medicine, Siam University was founded by a group of doctors with high lecturing experience in the country’s leading medical schools and great success in medical profession. They have directly experienced a critical shortage of medical professionals in both public and private sectors, especially when Thailand officially became a part of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. When the AEC materializes, skilled labors are able to flow freely across the region, leading to higher demand for medical services. The government thus has to prepare a sufficient number of capable medical personnel to cover all regions. As a higher education institution, Siam University was aware of the participation in solving this problem and developing the country. It has been determined to develop quality personnel for a long time. In the beginning, Dr. Boon Wanasin supported the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, Siam University in terms of human resources, buildings, and educational supports.
